DA Mike Hestrin Appoints Jared Haringsma as Chief Assistant DA

RIVERSIDE – Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin has appointed Jared Haringsma as the next Chief Assistant District Attorney for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.Haringsma, who has served in the office for more than two decades, brings an extensive background as both a veteran trial prosecutor and an experienced executive leader.

“Jared has earned the respect of colleagues throughout our office for his integrity, skill, and steady leadership,” said District Attorney Mike Hestrin. “His depth of trial experience and strong management background make him exceptionally well-suited to help lead this office as we continue our mission to pursue justice and serve the people of Riverside County.”

Haringsma joined the District Attorney’s Office in 2002 and has served in every region of the county, including as the Acting Assistant District Attorney for the Eastern Division. Over his career, he has built a reputation for outstanding courtroom performance and exceptional trial results. For more than a decade, he was one of the office’s premier homicide prosecutors, trying numerous complex and high-profile murder cases, including five capital cases.

His expertise and professionalism made him a trusted mentor to younger prosecutors and a consistent presence in the county’s most serious and sensitive prosecutions.

In leadership, Haringsma has overseen major units such as Homicide, Gangs, and Cold Case, and later assumed oversight of the Administrative Division – managing Accounting, Human Resources, the Management Infrastructure Team, Countywide Filing, Clerical, and the Collaborative Courts/Mental Health units.
