DA’S OFFICE ASKS FOR PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING A 1988 COLD CASE

RIVERSIDE – The Riverside County DA’s Bureau of Investigation is asking for the public’s help in solving the case of a woman who went missing 36 years ago.

On December 26, 1988, the Perris Police Department discovered the body of a woman near 330 E. 4th Street, in the City of Perris. Police were unable to identify the victim and the case remained unsolved.

In 2022, the Riverside County Regional Cold Case Team, which is supervised by the DA’s Bureau of Investigation, exhumed the victim’s body and conducted Forensic Genetic Genealogy. This enabled the team to identify the female victim as 25-year-old Jacqueline Danette Ebel. She was reported missing from the Long Beach area around December 23, 1988.

Prior to her passing, “Jackie”, as she was known to her family and friends, lived in the Long Beach and Bellflower areas. She also went by the last names “Yonkers” and “Palmer”. She’s described as a Caucasian female, with reddish-brown or auburn hair, blue eyes, 5’5”-5’6”, and approximately 120-140 pounds. Jackie had a tattoo of a horse and flower on her right shoulder blade, tattoos of “John” and a Harley Davidson eagle on her left shoulder blade, and a rose and “Stoney” on her lower abdomen.“

It is our greatest desire to grant dignity and justice to this victim and her family,” said Senior DA Investigator Ebony Caviness with the Riverside County Regional Cold Case Homicide Team.
