Law Student Applications

The District Attorney of Riverside County recruits first- and second-year law students for summer externships and third-year law students for post-bar clerkship positions. He is seeking students with a demonstrated commitment to excellence, ensuring public safety, and community service. The District Attorney believes excellence in prosecution can only be achieved by ethical, assertive, articulate, persuasive advocates with high levels of initiative, creativity, maturity, work ethic, and sound judgment and who are willing to use those abilities for the public’s good. Applications are sought from students who have had an active participation in law school and law-related activities and who are committed to excellence in accepting personal responsibility for cases of importance. On-campus and virtual interviews are normally scheduled at most California and Arizona ABA-accredited law schools. Each January, February, and March, the office participates in the Northern California Public Interest Career Day as well as the Southern California Public Interest/Public Sector Career Day, as well as various other similar career events. Students attending other law schools or who are unable to attend their school's interview program or a career fair are invited to submit their resumes and cover letters directly to the externship program coordinator at [email protected].

Paralegal Internship/Volunteer Program (Non-paid)

The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is filled with experienced Deputy District Attorneys who provide a public service to the community. Our office’s Paralegal Volunteer Program offers unpaid student internships and volunteer opportunities at all our office locations countywide. Volunteers are provided the opportunity to explore prosecution and criminal law and develop skills to become valuable legal contributors to the local community by working closely with Deputy District Attorneys and Paralegals. Since this is a volunteer program, you may be able to receive credit hours toward your paralegal program.

 The candidate must be a paralegal student enrolled at least part-time and have completed at least one semester of a paralegal program at an accredited university or college. Individuals who have recently completed a program and have obtained a paralegal certificate are included in this classification.
